THE SOLUTION
Cortus has developed a solution for replacing fossil fuels where it is most needed. The solution is based on waste (non-food based biomass) gasification. The waste is converted into a renewable fuel that is used to lower the carbon footprint in climate intensive sectors like the steel industry and the transport sector.

Feedstock
Cortus technology is unique due to its feedstock flexibility. This makes the technology unsensitive to price fluctuations. As the bio-economy is growing, the demand on biobased products will increase and so will the prices for the raw material. Due to our unique feedstock flexibility, Cortus will not be affected of such price fluctuations.

Drying
Incoming biomass is dried with internal waste heat.
Pyrolysis
The dried biomass is converted into a very reactive char (biocoal). In addition, pyrolysis gas is produced which is used to heat the whole process.
Gasification
Pure renewable syngas is generated when char reacts with steam at high temperature.
Product
The hot syngas is cooled with water and steam is generated. Steam is used in the process and the cooled syngas is now ready to use!
